I am a Learning and Development Specialist with experience analyzing, designing, and developing online courses. By providing training, mentoring, and online course setup, I have helped teams and individuals develop valuable work skills.
At The University of Texas at Dallas, I serve as the Instructional Technology Training Specialist, where I support faculty and staff in developing online courses using Blackboard and other tools. My key contributions include creating and providing training, a tutorial production cycle, and an online eLearning lab for questions. More recently by providing demos for eLearning tools Rise and Ally, I was able to provide the instructional design team additional authoring and ADA resources. When working with instructors, I discuss how AI can impact their course to help them prepare accordingly.
I also train and work with student employees who support training sessions, test eLearning setups, and create training materials. This arrangement allows me to build relevant content, and to help student develop professional skills.
While earning my Master of Science in Organizational Performance and Workplace Learning and a Graduate Certificate in Instructional Design from Boise State University, I interned for two departments and one lab. For the eCampus OER internship at Boise State University, I deepened my understanding of open content and how to leverage it for scalable learning. For the Process Management Lab, I learned about consulting for performance improvement, team productivity. By participating in the Interactive Learning Design Lab, I learned how to utilize Storyline and Vyond, while sharing my experience with Camtasia and animatics. Now my toolkit includes Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Suite, Camtasia, H5P, Blackboard, Canvas, and Microsoft 365.
Previously, at Dallas College, I coordinated Quality Matters course reviews and faculty eLearning certifications. When I noticed how instructors did not understand the process for QM, I created a shared documentation system that allowed smoother handoffs and increased the number of certified courses over two academic cycles.
I am an active member of the Texas Distance Learning Association, the International Society of Performance Improvement’s Bay Area Boise State Chapter.
While technology provides challenges and solutions for online learning and productivity, my goal remains constant, to continue improving learning experiences through thoughtful design, effective training, and collaborative mentoring.
